Our Mission
PAYES exists to provide a safe, secure, and temporary place for youth to stay while they conduct a supported search for a permanent and safe shelter.
Objectives
PAYES continues our mission by following the objectives set by the Board of Directors;
- To provide emergency and/or when appropriate, transitional shelter for
homeless youth.
- To connect homeless youth with the necessary programs and services that will support a successful return to their home or to finding safe, suitable living accommodation.
- To offer alternatives to youth from engaging in unsafe or illegal activities.
- To support youth in strengthening coping skills and becoming more able to deal with crises.
- To identify the contributing factors to youth homelessness
- To collect accurate, relevant data regarding the true numbers of homeless youth in Parkland and area.
- To establish a network of community partners that includes but is not limited to: Drug Strategies, Edmonton Youth Emergency Shelter Services (YESS), Sunrise House in Grande Prairie, Parkland Area Ministerial Association, corporations and businesses, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), local churches, Victim Services, and local municipal Councils.
- To strengthen funding, broaden donor base, and increase fundraising activities.
- To increase community awareness and partnerships with appropriate agencies in the surrounding areas.
